What a blast! Minigame Competition #2, The 24 Hours Of MFGG, The Angry Sun, is now over!

Out of the 6 original entrants, 2 have unfortunately been lost along the tracks, but the remaining four delivered, and they delivered great stuff:

Download All At Once™
Contains:
When The Moon Rises (DJ Yoshiman)
Angry Sun And The Phantos (lordcyber12)
Dangery Run (Mason)
The Angry Sun Strikes Back (VinnyVideo)

Vote for your favorite entry in this topic, the voting ends in 2 days from this topic being posted.
You can't vote for yourself.

Also be sure to take a look at DJ Yoshiman's recorded programming session.

If you were in this, discuss your experiences.
Also everyone's free to voice their opinions if we should have more of these!

My vote goes to Mason.
For myself: I won't try do a shooter level anymore.I thought that the game was too easy and,so,I used too much random variables, but the game is beatable(if you take one blue power_up ,the boss will be piece of cake).I need think more in a sense of a Mario Party's minigame.
For VinnyVideo: is ok,using the SMB3's AI pattern correctly, but it is a engine
For DJ Yoshiman:except the cutscenes, the gameplay need as little more work(the second phase is hard in a cheap way and first phase could be a little more shorter to reduce the boring factor). But the musics are awesome(I wanted a music composer to Ninjular that had this style in 8-bit).

Mason takes my pick.

However, you might want to make it so your score resets back to zero when you start a new game, unless you want it to be possible to accumulate enormous point totals.

Sorry I couldn't do anything, my internet messed up for a day and it took long to fix it, and when I did the time was up :(
Anyway, I vote for DJ Yoshiman.

Mason wins, unless if happens a twist in the end.).0 votes to me?Well, for a game made in 24 hs, isn't very shameful.I'll do better in the next time(not in MGC#3, but in MGC#4).

PS:I think that the timelimit could be extended to 36 or 48 hs.It's too much tension to me.

Honestly, I probably would have preferred yours, lordcyber, if you allowed customization of controls, since the one issue involving that completely ruined my ability to play the game like I should.

And I vote, as a tie breaker, for lordcyber.
The other entries were cool, but Mason's was simply the best :3

And thus:
Mason IIIIIII
DJ Yoshiman II
lordcyber12 I
VinnyVideo

Mason wins, Runner-up DJ Yoshiman, followed by lordcyber and finally VinnyVideo.

Congratulations, and thank you all for entering. This means the next competition is up to Mason to lay out.
And it'd be cool if you'd make it another one of these, because I want to enter myself! :D

Also, in MGCs, usually only the first three placed people get a badge, but I think in this special occasion, everyone who helped make this a great event and finish in the first place deserves one, so both lordcyber AND vinny get a top 5 badge, if everyone's ok with that!

Congratulations Mason! I'd never turn down the chance for a free badge, of course, especially since it might make me feel like polishing this up more once I finish it.

Here's hoping for the next MGC to be as exciting as this one was!

My first forum's badge!
About the customization controls,I don't know what is the easy way to do in Game Maker in 24 hs:Using a dll that do that(but I don't know which one yet) or using global variables to store the key's keyboard that can changed, but need create trigger events(that is boring) or put the keys events in step event. In both case,I will need create a menu to change the keys.

^ yea, in 24 hours, you can't really do this sort of polishing, unless you have finished code for that at hand which you can of course use.

When you say "another one of these" what do you mean? A 24 hour competition? I have no idea how to implement that myself... I'd rather start a regular one. Also, please PM me with details of when to start it.

What do you mean "implement"?
And yes, I mean a 24 hour competition. Also, all you'd need to do is to pick the theme, the rest you can leave to me, if that is the problem.

  1. Timer page
  2. When to start it

If I told you the theme, you would kind of know what the theme was before anyone else. But since you can be trusted, it should be fine. I'll PM you with the theme.

I deleted the PM, that's not what I meant, but we're talking on MSN anyway so~

you could also do what Mason did - he just assigned the jump button to several different keys

Or you could join the cool cat club and use a Clickteam product
