So to go along with the fresh start of the forums, we're going to have a fresh start for the minigame competitions. But in order to have some of these competitions, and the first one, we need ideas. Cool thing here is, you can even go back to previous competitions that were done before. Obviously not ones that were done just within the past 7 months or so, but if you either remember or look back to ones done 2 years ago or so, we can see if members can get some new entries for an idea done before. So, even if you're not participating in the minigame competition, feel free to give ideas for different competitions that could potentially be used! |

Well seeing how December draws near, let's throw in a Winter themed competition (with additional constraints). |

I'd be on-board for that! I was in a Winter themed competition back in 2006, but I haven't gotten sick of it yet. haha |

A winter theme sounds fine. |

I like the winter idea. But maybe throw in a small twist of some sort, perhaps? |

As long as it's not mouse control stuff again, haha. How about changing/controlled environment situations? |

"Winter" and "scary stuff" would be a good combination in my opinion but I dunno. |

That sounds good enough! In fact, I already have a decent enough idea for it. |

What about a grinchy twist on the winter(or, I guess that'd make it Christmas) theme? I admit this is partly because I already have thought up an idea for such a thing (that I probably wasn't gonna do this year otherwise) though. >_> |

So is this going to actually happen or what? |

How about: mini level competition! The only constraint would be levels can ONLY be one screen(the screen can be as big as you want). You can make one room end and another begin to LOOK like you move on through one, or you could have warps or doors at the end, or possibly an old-arcade-style game. |

just some ideas -Time-limit games - doing certain tasks in specific times but having the opportunity to extend the time -minigame remake - we did this a while ago, but I thought it produced some cool results and might be fun to do again. Basically you just remake any previous made nintendo minigame with your own twist (achievements, extra levels/enemies, etc.) The nice thing about this one is that it's open to people with very little programming knowledge. -enemies as protagonists -I liked koopachris' idea of one non-scrolling screen too, because it provides a lot of freedom -puzzle games that require you to think (no tricks or hidden areas or any of that crap though) -a warioware style competition where you have to make a bunch of microgames -out of their world - take a mario character and make a game out of them in a computer where they can go into different programs (perhaps each program is a level?) They could start by traveling through microsoft word, itunes or gamemaker (or whatever other program you want) with each having it's own way of beating it. Maybe the gamemaker level requires you to destroy all the D&D icons and the itunes level contains a musical puzzle? -(from kritter on the old forums) a game where the theme is something really simply like coins or barrels and you have to take that idea to make a creative, original game. I'll think of more later. |

Single-word themes are pretty cool |
