Post subject:  Sprite Competition Rules

1. Setting up a competition
1. The previous competition winner gets the privilege to set up the next competition. If you can not come up with an idea for any reason, you can ask somebody else, preferably the runner-up, to do that for you.

2. You can set up a theme for your competition. It should be narrow enough to provide a challenge for the entrants, but broad enough to have some variety among the entries.
The theme must obviously be gaming related!

3. You can add additional rules to your competition, if you think they make sense. (e.g. "no colors", etc.)

4. You CAN enter in a competition you made yourself. If you win twice in a row, the runner-up gets to make the competition instead of the winner.

5. If the winner does not make a competition within 2 days, the runner-up can take over. If the runner-up can not make a competition within the following day (total of 3 days), the administration will create the next topic.

2. Duration
1. A typical drawing and sprite competition takes between 1 and 2 weeks, followed by top 5 and final voting, 1 day (24 hours) each.

2. There CAN be extensions, if there are not enough entries and if such an extension will bring in more entrants. The competition master (the guy who set up the competition) can do such extensions. They have to be made very clear though (edit your first post and post in big bold letters), and don't do them too often or too long.

3. Voting
1. After the deadline of the competition, the voting process takes place.

2. Should there be more than 5 entries, there will be a Top 5 voting. In Top 5 Voting you must vote for your favorite 5 entries. Order does not matter.
The entries with the most votes proceed to final voting.

3. In Final Voting you must vote for your favorite entry. When Final Voting is over, the entry with the most votes wins.

4. In order to be accepted, an entry must follow these rules:
1. Entries must follow the overall board rules. (No porn, no illegal content, no flaming etc.)

2. Joke entries are not accepted.

3. Unfinished work must be labeled, or it might accidentally be taken for your real entry instead of your finished work.

4. Only one entry per person is accepted.

5. Your entry must be made by you. Do not hand in stolen work. If you hand in stolen work, this will have heavy consequences.

6. No edits or premade work. To guarantee a fair competition, all entries must be made 100% between the announcement of the competition and the deadline.

7. Try to be as original as possible. Especially when somebody already showed a WIP of his entry, try to do something else.

5. Voting Rules
1. No bias in voting. We vote for the art, not for the person.

2. You can not vote for yourself, neither in Top 5, nor Final Voting. You can always decide not to vote at all.

3. Make your votes clear by posting only the member's name, or by posting a clear message like "I vote for ___".

6. General
1. Do not discourage people, for example by saying "this entry wins", "this entry sucks" or similar things.

2. If there are questions, the competition creator has the final word. Admins and mods overrule the competition creator. Usually admins and mods do not need to interfere though.

7. Sprite Competition specific rules
1. Sprites are supposed to be drawn pixel by pixel. Do not use a brush and resize your drawing.
