Post subject:  Sprite Comp #5 2017: Classic Games, New Characters

Congratulations and thanks to Neweegee for allowing me to start this contest and thanks to everyone who voted for me.

Who here remember of an old game and thinks: "Would it be nice if I could play with this character"? because this is the goal of this competition: to draw characters in the style of classic games.

Rules:
1.I said classics
The recommended and make sprites in the style of 16-bit, 8-bit or arcade games. no modern games.
2.Make it look alike, but not the same
Image
Try to make the sprites from scratch. Do not worry if they look like existing sprites, but it's not worth editing.
3.Mix the universes!
Image
Anything goes: cartoon, movie, anime, can do any character.
Sorry if I broke rule #2.
4.Enemies also enter
I do not need to explain this rule.

You have until September 25th to submit your entries.

Could I make a lot of Metroid Prime Trilogy enemies in the original Metroid style? I'm guessing I can. In which case... I'm damn in this one.

Yes. Can be any character, but is needed to be in style of a 8-bit or 16-bit game (remember the palette limits).

Probably.

I haven't made a post on here in nearly a year but I've been looking at the competitions and this one looked cool, so I figured why not? I recreated 15 enemies from Yoshi's Island in the Super Mario Bros. style, and while a few break the 4-color limit, transparency can simply be used because I made sure that the background color was always one color used if it did have five colors. All of these were made from scratch and while I did almost always have a reference image open, nothing was an edit. I think I did go off of the SMB style a bit and it kinda became just a random style, but hopefully this works! Attached is an image containing all 15 enemies.

Did Simon Belmont (Castlevania 1 and Castlevania Chronicles variants) in the style of the classic MegaMan games.
I had fun with this one, and I definitely can't wait for the next entries.


EDIT: Whoops, didn't fully read the rules before entering.
I'll make another entry that actually follows the guidelines.

we've had a mario styled Kirby, so why not a kirby styled mario?

Not really too sure how I feel about this, but I think this is worth entering.
Waluigi as a playable character in Wario Land 1.
Can't wait to see what else people come up with!
