I decided to enter this sprite competition with these sprites I made for 6 to 7 days and had to go over the palette today:

From left to right: Gao from Super Mario Land 1, Kiddokatto from Super Mario Land 2, Penkoon from Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3.
I haven't seen these guys gain much love yet, now they do got the love they deserved.

EDIT: Gain enough motivation to add two enemies from SML2 to Wario Land: SML3.
EDIT2: Just gave Penkoon some armor shading.
EDIT3: Spelling fix, I blame my rush hour.
EDIT4: Reduced the head a bit and played with the colors on Penkoon a little more, playing with Kiddokatto's a bit also applies.
EDIT5: Okay I'm finally done with Kiddokatto's colors and now everything is intentional for the top 5 vote. Good luck to everyone with their entries! :thumbsup:
EDIT6: Little minor change on Penkoon's Colors
EDIT10: Final Edit, 3x Size and helmet horn and shoe tweaking.

I am going to join in this comp, so I made Bomubomu from Super Mario Land 2 since the poor pig gets no love. I mean I might edit it later if I want to add more detail to it, but I am semi-satisfied with it.

Edit: Made some majors to the Bombomu, but I might make so more edits before that comp is over or maybe add another mario land enemy.
Edit 2: Made Pipe Fist and Dropper since they get no respect or attention.

Looks pretty good. Also, now I'm tempted to do some enemies from the other SML games, they had such fun designs.

Can't remember the two new enemies names. I made the fish skeleton look like it's walking on it's tail fin to differentiate it from Fishbones some.

EDIT- Fish skeleton from SML, Mole from SML3

Dude, these look great! I am impressed that you decided to make two more enemies from the other SML games at the same time as me(my entry was just Gao until I updated the post by adding two more enemies in order) and I actually like how the quality looks in this style. Good ol' Paper Mario feels. Honen is the name for the fishbone from SML and Guragura is also the name for the blind mole from SML3.

That looks really good, but does Wart count? He appeared originally in Doki Doki Panic, as well as BS Super Mario USA, which was a Japanese pseudo sequel I guess? Granted, I think all those 3 games us the same levels, just with slight changes graphic/minor gimmick wise, so I guess it wouldn't be an issue as they are all essentially the same game.

I'd allow it, if it were up to me. You're on the nose about BS Super Mario USA, it's more or less just an ever so slightly different version of the game with a vaguely unique story.

These are sprites of Mario's Marine Pop from Super Mario Land 1. By the way, that gray thing is a torpedo that Mario shoots out.

I'll count Wart in. Doki Doki Panic isn't a Mario game, and BS Super Mario USA, while presented as a sequel, is really more of a remake. Now a real sequel to SMB2, that would be something...

let's face it, gulpit gets no love. nestled away in a select few screens of the first paper mario's penultimate chapter, only given a vague reference in that game's direct sequel, and with the newer paper mario games neglecting to feature any enemies outside the main series it's unlikely that we'll ever see him again. which is a shame really, because he has a solid character design which would fit well in pretty much any mario game.
