My idea was to do the Koopalings, but they would be similar the the Bowser supplied. My Koopalings are to the normal Koopalings as the supplied Bowser is to normal Bowser. They'd be mostly grey, have no white shell borders, have chunkier frames, etc. I guess I should check with bEEtle if this is allowed, but the OP suggested we expand on what was supplied:

Is it inly limited to what's in the artwork specifically, or can I add on to it, like what it says in the first post? I'm a bit confused.

Sooo alot of people seem to be a little confused.

the style of the sprite can only be in the style of a mario game for the SNES. This isn't a limitation it's a skill testing idea. You can be original but within the box that is the original Mario concept art I posted. Original art is sometimes easy becuase you have open range. To sprite something in a specific style takes some thinking. So this means no using other art examples besides the beta artwork.

AAAND You can extend on the characters like I said in the original post but it has to relate directly to the fan art. this is where you can have a little more creative freedom. So technically you could do the koopa kids but they should should look like they fit into the beta art idea.

Sorry if it's confusing. I wanted to challenge people to stay within a style with freedom to still create OC.

There's some good stuff going on here. I love Mit's Mario

Am I going to lose? Yes
Do I regret making the derpiest looking Spiny ever? Nope.

I could have gone for a more simplistic style, and the end result may have been better, but I've wanted to try spriting in SMRPG style for a long time now (Haven't tried it since I made that SMRPG Captain Syrup sprite years ago).

I don't think so. Just because Bowser is black doesn't mean all the koopalings are supposed to be black. Note that the normal koopas aren't black, so if I were you, I'd color them properly.

Fair point. However, I consider the Koopalings to be more similar to Bowser than they are to normal koopas (snouts, hair, teeth), even originally being his children. Our only provided example of Bowser's variety of koopa has grey skin, so I made the Koopalings with grey skin.

Umm, I doubt it. Even if they are more similar to Bowser than the normal koopas, it still doesn't mean they have to have black skin at well. Bowser is an exception because he is the king, and is more evil than the koopalings. I still think the koopalings don't look good in black skin because they're closer to regular koopas in my opinion, and it doesn't fit in them. Consider this for good.

Hexyuu- I suppose it all comes down to a matter of opinion. You have one idea, I have another. I respect that, but if neither of us are going to change our mind, why should we bother arguing?

SuperArthurBros- My plan was to use the modern shell colors, because they're all unique and correspond to their hair colors, but, being a variation on the artwork, nothing's set in stone.
