Now that people are getting used to spriting competitions, let's heat things up. Instead of doing a certain area of characters/items/etc., let's go for something unique.

With the arrival of NSMBU approaching, it again introduces enemies on the world map that might in fact effect the level you're about to play. This also is present in the Galaxy games in the form of Prankster Comets. So, what does this have to do with our theme? Well, let my first get the big lett-

THE THEME:
Imagine a Mario game where on the map screen, you see friendly characters, and when approached, they initiate a certain twist to the level you are on. For example, I'll introduce you to Jet

Jet here is a nice bird who loves to race. So, when you meet him on screen, the level you are standing on becomes a time-trial obstacle course.
So the theme is to create a character new to the Mario series which will act as a mechanic variable on the current level.

The Competition will end on Friday, October 5th.

Not really. Make a random character (fitting to the Mario series in some way of course) and come up with a way that it could change a level. This comp is about as basic as it gets.

A preview of my entry, if I don't update please use this as my entry.

They are the Goomba Bros., I kinda lazy picked the idea of the Koopa Bros. At the end of each level, instead of grabbing the goal, there'll be a warp pipe which will warp you to a boss room, where the Goomba Bros. are waiting for you. They will attack together but each one dies in 1 hit. If you beat them, you will get a 3-up moon and there will appear a warp pipe which will send you back to the original goal, where the goal is back.

I've thought of finally making my custom characters useful at all. But I can't draw them out because everytime I try, they come out as hideous scribbles...

The idea was.... They'd appear at the beginning of the level. After Mario passes by one of them(there would be a random one in this occasion) Either:

A- The enemy course would be replaced with a maze of doors(This one's the "boss" of the group, a real dragon)
B- The lights would go out(in the style of SMW last castle. Hitting a red switch would turn the lights on for some time). (This one seems a shadow dragon with yellow eyes)
C- Mario would receive a Metal Cap upon entering the level. The challenge would be passing about the level with reduced jumps and such because of the weight. (This one was a robotic dragon)

Oh, thanks,but I find my idea a bit lazy and dumb.

Anyway, about yours: it's actually pretty good but I can't imagine how the dragons and the levels would look like, for some reason. But that'd be easy if you finish spriting them. The idea there randomly appear one of the options is pretty great, actually, Nintendo could use it for their games for my part.
Also, it needs to fit with Mario somehow. Good luck doing that ;) Can't seem to think of any suggestions right now. I'll post it if I come up with something, but no promises.

EDIT: I totally forgot to give C+C! What the heck did I do?

Some critiques:

-I think a dragon doesn't fit with Mario. If it was something with Koopa's, it would.
-If you put it in a game, be sure to make it clear which to fight at the beginning, but it isn't really C+C since you only sprite them.
-Try to describe it in more detail. Some parts are a bit vague to me.

I named it Roulettech. What it/he does is at the fee of maybe like 10 coins, he'll become a roulette block. I had other ideas for blocks he would become (like for a fee of maybe 2-5 coins he'll be a roulette block, but you don't know at all what you'll get, or for 20-30 coins he'd become a special roulette block which only gives you better items like a Star or Gold Flower, but it'd scroll faster), so I might sprite those later

I'll try to think of something. The theme isn't that hard, but it is a matter of "How creative are you."

I'm quite a creative person, but even I can't think of anything half-decent :S. I'll just put that down as being tired though...

i whipped up something quick here is
its Cutesy
He may look innocent but he can throw stuff that's bad and sometimes good eg bombs, poison mushrooms, shells, spines, 1ups (rare), coins and leaf (rare). but he only throws good stuff 2 or 4 times mostly coins (to prevent 1up and item farming)
Note: im not really good at making ideas :/
