Nominations have ended. Please stay tuned for the voting list later this day!

MFGG Awards 2010

It's that time of the year again!
A year has passed (2010 to be precise) and we have seen many games, both in the forums and submitted to the main site. Now, it is time to honor your favorite games of last year with your support, in the run for a badge.

The veterans among you know how this works, for everyone else a short introduction:
MFGG Awards consists of two important phases:
Nomination phase
Voting phase

First you nominate a name (in the individual categories) or a game title (in the games category) for each category. Then the 5 people/games with the most nominations per category get set up for the final voting.
After this, we have winners and will announce them. The winners receive an MFGG Awards 2010 badge.
Who knows, somebody might even nominate you!

Here is how the nomination phase works:
1. Copy this list of categories:
Quote:
Individual:
BEST SPRITER
Who consistently makes great sprites?

BEST COMPOSER
Who's the guy who can make you feel all kinds of emotion through his music?

BEST REVIEWER
So thorough and helpful!

BEST ENGINE MAKER
For the member whose engines make you feel like you are playing an official game.

MOST POSITIVE CONTRIBUTOR
Who does the most and best work for MFGG and the forums?

JACK-OF-ALL-TRADES
This guy's good at just about everything.

MOST HELPFUL
Always there to point you in the right direction.

Fan Game:
BEST GAME OVERALL
There can be only one.

BEST NON-MARIO GAME
Because even Mario Fan Games Galaxy has some non-Mario stuff.

BEST DEMO
The stipulation for this award is that the game you nominate cannot have been yet released.

BEST MINIGAME
So maybe it's not a full game, it's still awesome.

BEST SPRITES
I love those M&L ninja rabbits you used!

BEST ENGINE
Wow, this feels just like a real game!

BEST LEVEL DESIGN
Because nothing is worse than an impassable chasm.

MOST POLISHED
Everything about this game is great.

MOST OVERLOOKED
For that diamond in the rough that people haven't seemed to find yet.

MOST ORIGINAL GAMEPLAY
Whoa, this is new and exciting!

MOST REPLAY VALUE
Let's play again!

MOST ANTICIPATED
We just can't/couldn't wait for it.

BEST STORY
I was so involved!

BEST CONCEPT
Not your standard Mario-rescues-the-princess game.

BEST SECRETS
They just keep you searching. And it paid off with awesomeness incarnate.

BEST SETTING
Because your standard grassland gets boring now and again.

BEST USE OF SITE RESOURCES
Special thanks to MFGG.

2. Enter ONE name per category
Please enter the name instead of the description, and leave the categories in this order. This makes it easier for us to count the nominations.

3. Send your nominations per PM to: MFGG Awards 2010

Nominations end on Saturday, Jan 22nd, MIDNIGHT (so we can tally up on Sunday and give the results and instructions for the Voting Phase).

Differences to last year, mostly due to the split:
We have less categories, and also we are less people, so it is not necessary to put a name in all categories.
However, you have to put names in at least HALF of the categories. If a category has not enough nominations, it might be left out this year. However, please try to nominate for as many categories as possible and don't just stop half way through.

I have experienced so many MFGG Awards by now that it's a routine for me, so I'm sure I have left out some important details. So please ask questions if you're unsure, thank you! :)

Yay! It's back! I've played just about every game released on the main site this year, so I should be able to fill this out pretty quickly.

Also, unless the rules have changed, you can't vote for yourself. Please take the time to put some care into your voting; this is a good time to catch up on some of the better and more original games released on the main site in the past year.

I've played just about all the games at NCFC, too.

Just a reminder: There's only nine hours to go with this!

Ok, it's Sunday.

Situation is as follows: The MFGG Awards inbox has only two PMs, which is certainly not enough to go with.
I was hoping for the few people actually being registered here all caring about games and playing some, maybe this didn't get enough publicity (although the 100+ views of this topic say otherwise).

So we're extending this (as planned, in such a case) to one week later. If by then we don't get enough nominations we might just get some staff picks or something and hope for more nominations next year.

Please show your support and nominate some games you have played during the last year.

Thank you.

How sad that no one's participating. At least I did my part, though.

Sweet! I'm definately nominating TONS of people!!! :D

EDIT: Also, by "non-mario game" do you mean a game that doesn't star Mario as the main character, or a game that doesnt' take place in the Mario-universe at all?

Main problem is that I don't know if half the people that spring to mind for categories have even posted on new mfgg

well, it is for 2010, and the newer version of the forums only happened with the last 2 months of 2010, so that shouldn't matter

If that's the case, is wario in the same universe? And if it is then there are no games on mfgg to fill that category :(

The forums allowed indie games, so look there.
