MFGG Ruleset 8.4

1) No NSFW Material
Do not post text, images, or media of a pornographic or sexually explicit nature. Don't post content depicting extreme violence, or anything else that would be unsafe for work.

2) No Illegal Content
Never post or ask for any illegal software, media, or commercial ROMs.

3) Be Nice to One Another
Don't harass, annoy, troll, threaten, or flame other members. Be courteous and respectful to everyone, and keep all critique constructive in tone. Keep swearing to a minimum, and don't attempt to bypass the swear filter.

4) No Spam
Keep discussions meaningful and on-topic - do not deliberately derail threads or disrupt conversation, and don't flood-post. Direct advertisements should be limited to member profiles and signatures. Posts consisting solely of a reaction image may be removed at a moderator's discretion.

5) No Drama
Do not bring drama from somewhere else into MFGG. Similarly, please do not take matters that started inside MFGG to other places on the Internet - for example, raiding a forum in the name of MFGG is a big no-no. Do not continue or repost a topic that has been locked by a moderator due to it violating the rules.

6) General Maturity
Be an intelligent, sensible contributor to MFGG. Some things to avoid:
  • "typin liek dis........ XDXDXD"; writing in barely understandable English or foreign languages, or consistently showing an inability to understand basic English.
  • Using terminology generally considered offensive to one's race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, or other statuses that people have limited control over (such as racial epithets or gay slurs).
  • Frequently instigating arguments or disrupting the community in some other, negative way.
  • Bumping old topics without a valid reason.
  • Asking for help in some way (advice in the general chat, or criticism in the development/arts boards) and then showing a complete disregard for any help that is given.

We reserve the right to ban serial or flagrant violators of these rules.

Additional Notes
These don't affect your day-to-day posting as much as the above, but are still definitely worth noting:

  • Don't register more than one account. Contact an admin for name changes, if necessary. If you try to do this in order to bypass a ban, your ban time will just increase.
  • You are responsible for your own account. Keep it secure.
  • An account represents an individual. Do not register an account to be shared by more than one person.
  • Please contact an admin if you need to access the boards using a proxy. We reserve the right to ban accounts created with IP addresses associated with proxies, or "throwaway" e-mail accounts, both of which are frequently employed by spambots and other troublemakers.
  • Avatars and signatures should not contain seizure-inducing or otherwise annoying imagery.
  • Signatures should not be more than 400 pixels tall and stay within a reasonable file size
  • Please use spoiler tags as appropriate when discussing potential plot spoilers.
  • The mod team isn't psychic. It can be very difficult to tell the intended tone of posts on the Internet, so exercise caution when using sarcasm.
  • Report posts if the mod team aren't alerted to an issue - it isn't being a snitch, it's helping keep MFGG's atmosphere clean and friendly.
  • Do not try to find flaws or loopholes in the rules and abuse them. MFGG moderators and administrators reserve the right to use common sense as necessary.

These rules are subject to change if we see that they don't bring about the intended results.

MFGG Warning System

MFGG has switched to a hybrid points-based warning system. Everyone is starting with a clean slate, with 0 points on their record. Every time you are disciplined for breaking a rule, warn points will be added to your account. The exact number will depend on the offense. Periodically, points will expire from your account. Your current warning status can be seen in each of your profiles. Some of the major details are listed below:

  • Each user maxes out at 30 warn points.
  • If you reach your warn point maximum, you will be automatically suspended for one year. This replaces the permaban.
  • When you return from a one-year suspension, your warning level will be 90% of its maximum.
  • Every 20 days, one point will automatically expire from your account.
  • Except in special situations, users will be suspended by the warning system, not by a moderator. More on that below.

At higher percentages, users will be automatically suspended each time they receive a warning. The suspension times are fixed by the board and relate only to your current warn status, not what you are receiving a warning for. The following list gives the times and warning levels.

  • 40%: Suspended for 1 day
  • 60%: Suspended for 2 days
  • 70%: Suspended for 4 days
  • 80%: Suspended for 7 days
  • 90%: Suspended for 10 days
  • 100%: Suspended for 1 year

Mods will assign warning points from ranges defined for the following 4 categories:

  • Small offenses: 1 - 3 points
  • Medium offenses: 4 - 6 points
  • Big offenses: 8 - 12 points
  • Super offenses: 13 - 20 points

The definition of small, medium, big, and super are up to the moderating team. The moderating team maintains a loose guide for which types of offenses fit into which category, and each mod will decide at the time of warning how many points to assign from within a given category.
