Hey folks! As you may have noticed, the last time we held one of these events was all the way back in June of last year. And in lou of the Nintendo Switch turning one month old today, I figured I'd get this thing out the door so you can make some funny games for people to play.

In case you haven't guessed, the theme for this contest is:

THE NINTENDO SWITCH

That's right! You can parody any game for the Switch, even if it hasn't come out yet. Heck, if you really want to, you could parody the Switch itself! There are just going to be a few ground rules:
  • Your game MUST include some kind of direct reference to a Switch game or the Nintendo Switch itself. The games don't have to be out for the system yet; they just have to be confirmed for being on the console in the future.
  • Please keep profanities and stuff to a minimum. Remember, you are posting this game on the forums, and if it wouldn't go well with the forum's rules, you probably shouldn't post it here.
  • Nothing seizure inducing. Stuff flailing around and all that stuff is fine, but don't have a bunch of bright, rapidly-flashing lights all over the place. I still have a few good years left to use my eyes!
  • All entries must be completed and submitted before April 18th, 11:59 PM, EST. I will only allow an extension if people are actually working on their games before this; 2 weeks should be enough time for you to get working on something!

Aside from those rules, you have complete freedom as to what you want to do. Remember, these games focus more on making people laugh, so don't worry if you're not the best at programming or all that! With that, get creating and have fun! And yes, having fun is a requirement.

Tbh there's too many game making contests going on at the same time, with many of them not having particularly interesting themes. But that's an issue that should probably be addressed in another topic.

Tbh I initially started this comp up because I thought the Super Comp wouldn't be happening for a while. So...

I think we need to lock this topic and put it in the Dungeon at this point. Does anybody care about jokegames anymore?

Probably not.
It'd likely be prudent to keep the focus on serious competitions. There's little interest in those as is already, anyway, and having multiple game making competitions doesn't help that.

On another note, I wonder why this is even in News & Events, given it's not really a competition and you can't win badges in it.
