You wouldn’t expect it, but this town is a hotbed of illegal moonshine production, whether for domestic consumption or export into nations with nightlives strangled by prohibition. The mafia control everyday life in MFGG Town, and a series of suspicious murders means it can’t go ignored any longer...[/i] [size=150][b]MFGG MAFIA[/b][/size] -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- Welcome to the sign-up topic for MFGG Mafia! I'm your host, Fujiko. Join me for a game of drama, deception, and murder! [b]WHAT IS MAFIA?[/b] Mafia is a parlour game where the innocent citizens of the town try to figure out who the members of the mafia are that walk amongst them, and vote in the topic to lynch them during the day phase. during the night phase, the mafia vote by PM on that night's murder victim. The team left standing wins. This is a game of teamwork as well as distrust. You cannot be sure of the roles of the other players, and it's unwise to reveal your own, but the town must work together to destroy the mafia and the mafia must work together to outnumber the townspeople. [b]RULES AND ORDER OF PLAY[/b] ~DAY PHASE~ -The game begins on a day phase. Each day phase lasts 24 hours real time, and each night phase lasts 24 hours as well. -During the day phase, all the players discuss in the main game topic, the innocent townspeople having the goal of finding a member of the mafia, and the mafia having the goal of blending in and convincing others that they are pro-town so that they are not lynched. -Players must vote on a player to be lynched (i.e. killed by the town). This is done by posting in the topic in the following format: "I vote [player's username]." You are allowed to vote "no one", however, you MUST SAY "I vote no one". If you have not voted by the end of the day phase, your vote is NOT taken to mean "no one", it is merely not counted at all. A player must be voted on by over 50% of players who voted in order to be lynched. Any other outcome will result in no lynching. ~NIGHT PHASE~ -During the night phase, the townsfolk should be asleep, so I will lock the topic. -The mafia communicate with each-other through PMs and decide on a player to kill. Each mafioso sends me a PM saying who they're voting for in the format "I vote [username]", and if over 50% of the mafia send me the same person's username, that player will be announced dead in the topic at the beginning of the next day phase, unless the murder had been blocked by a role that can save people. -Roles that have night actions also complete their actions during the night phase by sending me a PM stating their intent. -At the beginning of the next day phase, I will announce deaths that occurred during the night, send PMs to players who completed night actions informing them of the results, and unlock the topic. ~WIN CONDITIONS~ -The townsfolk win by eliminating the mafia, through lynching or other means. -The mafia win by outnumbering the townsfolk. -Once either of these things happen, the game is over, and the winning team is declared the victor. ~ROLES~ Roles are assigned to players randomly. Specialty roles are roles which have powers other than the basic rules outlined above. I will describe the roles in detail in the OP for the main game topic. You could be a cop, a doctor, or some other special role. At the beginning of the game, I will send out role PMs. These will describe your role, your abilities, and any items you might start out with. [b]IMPORTANT THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND[/b] -You have to be willing to commit, and play seriously. If you make no posts or PMs to me related to the game mechanics within 4 IRL days (so 2 day-night cycles) I will have to kick you out. -If you need help with anything, or aren't sure of a rule, ask me! For example, if your role is a cop: -You are a pro-town role, not a member of the mafia. -Each night, you can send me a PM to investigate one player. At the beginning of the next day, you will get a PM back from me telling you if the person you investigated is pro-town or a mafia member, but you will not learn their exact role, only their alignment. Nobody will know your role except you, and nobody will know your alignment besides the members of the mafia (because the mafia members will be told who the other members are so they can organise), unless you decide of your own volition to tell people. You could easily lie, though. During the day, the main MFGG Mafia topic will be open. You talk to the other players in an attempt to figure out who to lynch in a co-operative manner. As a lynching requires over 50% of the vote, the townspeople have to work together to root out the mafia... And the mafia has to work together to convince the townspeople to lynch an innocent. Keeping in the loop of the in-topic discussion is a good idea as typically the townspeople begin to target quiet lurkers as "suspicious".
