Mushroom Kingdom SHOWDOWN! by WwwWario2014 has been a year of many firsts at MFGG, and Mushroom Kingdom Showdown is yet another one - the first successful Smash Bros. fangame. Many MFGGers have attempted Smash Bros.-inspired engines, but none of these projects have gone very far. Until Mushroom Kingdom Showdown, that is! Mushroom Kingdom Showdown offers a full cast of characters, based on the official Smash Bros. games. Each character boasts their own unique strengths and weaknesses - in fact, each of these characters has been covered in great depth on the game's wiki (yes, this is one of the first fangames to warrant its own wiki community!). The game includes a variety of modes of play and many different ways to customize gameplay, which is good news if you adore items (or despise them, for that matter). The game is still a work in progress, and every once in a while you'll notice some clashing graphics and imperfect AI - some characters are vulnerable to sitting back and getting pummeled, especially if you use Yoshi's tail spin move. These flaws don't apply if you play against a buddy, however. Overall, Mushroom Kingdom Showdown is a fun way to get your fighting fix, and I encourage you to give it a try.
