Mario Land: Minigame Mayhem by Kritter

Image

After a decade of development, Kritter has finally released Mario Land: Minigame Mayhem, and it's quite a gem! Not to be confused with the infamous Mario Minigame Mayhem, Kritter's game is one of the finest minigame collections I've ever seen. Minigame Mayhem includes over 80 unique minigames, which is going to keep you busy for quite a while. The game's vibrant "hub" area connects all the minigames together and adds some additional goodies such as NPC conversations and a jukebox that plays assorted classic Mario tunes. Other extras include an achievement systems, Smash-style collectible figurines, and, best of all, an online high scores system. These things contribute immensely to the replay value, because it's fun to compare high scores and to keep checking to see if anyone's broken your records! (I dare you to top my records in Block Stacker and Treetop Turmoil!) The game's graphics meld together beautifully, and it's always nice to see a game that uses good ol' .IT files for background music. The auto-updater is another feature worthy of praise; it allows you to download new versions directly from the game's main menu, instead of having to navigate to a Web site to download the latest version. The biggest downside of the game is that a few minigames are solely games of chance, and those didn't leave much of an impact on me. That said, with any collection of minigames, some games will be more and interesting than others, and fortunately, most of the minigames are hits. Overall, Minigame Mayhem is an amazing production, and it serves to remind us that no matter busy we think we are, it's still possible to keep making games after hitting the three grand milestones of maturity - marriage, parenthood, and losing months of work to a dead hard drive!

That's probably the first and last time I'll ever use that smiley, but it was fitting at the time.

Thanks! It's an honour to receive a GotM, I'm glad I was finally able to finish something I started so many years ago and doubly so that everyone seems to be enjoying it! It's always fun to check the online high scores and see new names in there. Makes it all worthwhile in the end.

And if you haven't yet played it, give it a go plz

Congratulations, Kritter!

Cliax Codec is a combination of top-down and third-person shooter. The gameplay will blend platforming, puzzle and shmup elements together to create a unique gameplay experience. You will take control of four playable characters which rise against a team that seemingly wants to take over the world - but are their motives really that cliché, or are there deeper motives behind their actions?

(11/28/2020) Looking back at most of the things I did here many years ago makes me feel embarrassed :p But hey, we all started somewhere on the internet I guess. This site is basically the only remains of how I was years ago, and I can't look back at what me from over 5 years ago thought was "comedy" without cringing haha

I don't know if I'll return here some day, but I thank you all for the memories coming back to me after looking through my old posts. (which I advise you not to look through if you want to stay sane) If I do return, I do know of the new forum's existence, I just felt like looking back at posts here instead since I was more active on this one.

May the holidays go good if you are reading this around the time I am putting this text in my signature.
