Mario Kart - Blazing Wheels by DJ CocoBlazing Wheels is probably the best and most polished Mario Kart fangame to appear on MFGG, and it's one of the few games to be based on Mario Kart: Super Circuit for the Game Boy Advance. SMK fangames have seldom progressed past the "glitchy engine test" phase, so it's refreshing to see a racing game see the light of day. Blazing Wheels offers most of the same things you'd expect from the official Mario games: an octet of drivers, a variety of power-ups stashed inside [?] boxes, collectible coins (and you will want to collect them!), zippers, jumps, and so forth. Some of the track environments are completely original, but even the Super Circuit-inspired tracks have their own distinctive layouts, obstacles, and vibe. The game looks and sounds nice: the graphics are generally cohesive, and the background music usually fits the level environments. Try to play all four of the game's cups; unlocking all the courses isn't easy, but the challenge pays off, as the Special Cup is especially cool. The game isn't perfect - the sound effects are limited, and some players complained about the quirky mechanics - but overall it's a game that's worth your while. Wave the green flag and give it a try.
