Toadette Strikes (Toad Strikes Back 2) Demo by Thunder DragonThunder Dragon, our site's founder and administrator emeritus, is still regarded by many as the best game maker on MFGG. And when a new TD game gets unveiled, it's time to drop whatever you're doing and play it! Toadette Strikes is the spiritual sequel to TD's classic Toad Strikes Back, giving another starring role to an under-appreciated and under-developed Nintendo character. You'll find plenty of nods to the original TSB, but Toadette Strikes is far from a rehash of the first game. TSB includes a host of new baddies and goodies, and even a fully functional Yoshi. Some of the best aspects of the original TSB return, including sarcastic mushroom citizens and fun, whimsical dialogue. The graphics and sound are consistently impressive, too. Most importantly, you can expect more first-class level design and refreshingly original game environments (yes, a cattle ranch where you go swimming in moo juice qualifies as "refreshingly original") that made TSB and Psycho Waluigi such memorable experiences. The demo of Toadette Strikes was first released at NCFC 2013. While GOTM awards usually go to completed games rather than demos, this particular demo will keep you playing a while, especially if you hunt down all the Star Coins, and anything made by TD is going to be worth your time!
And yes, I know it took me all month to finish writing this belated review, and that I skipped the September and October GOTM awards. Being without a working PC for several months left me with a serious backlog of games to process, but now that I have a snappy new laptop, I'll be typing these on a much more regular basis.
