i think part of it is that mfgg's userbase doesn't have as many competent/long time spriters as it once did. obviously this one is enormous (oops) but maybe we could trim it down to just the mario part and make that mario maker. i dunno how that'd work though, how do you represent mario maker when it itself exists to represent the older mario games?

EDIT: oh wait the mario part is gone

There is a lot more to Mario Maker than its representation of other games.

yea i know but clearly the core designs in terms of what you can do for an isometric collab center around mario 1, 3, world, and NSMBU, so outside of a few elements, that's what the collab would be.

I think allowing animated tiles would make this a lot more fun. I wouldn't mind being the one who manages the animated results. People would just post their nonanimated tiles in PNG or animated tiles in GIF form. I'll use a tool to place the tiles appropriately so it won't require much work from me. This should make the collaboration much more interesting and lively.

i'd be fine with it but it would definitely be an issue in the long run unless it's highly limited to 4 frames or so.

Off the top of my head, some issues would be the GIF memory size and the entire collab looping consistently. For the looping, we can restrict GIF frames to powers of 2 so that each animation would do a full loop within the longest tile's animation length. For example, 2 goes into 4 twice, into 8 four times, and 4 goes into 4 once, into 8 twice, and 8 into 8 once, etc. To keep the GIF size low, we can probably restrict animation lengths to 1 (no animation), 2, or 4.

yea, i'd be fine with that. the mario iso portion of this collab (if anyone still has it) was considerably smaller than the base itself. iirc it was just small mario's SMB1 jumping sprite.

If no one has it, someone could make a new one, or we can just continue the one in the OP and allow animated tiles.

You know what, let's scrap this. It's clear that this won't be finished, and no one even bothers to start over. So there is no point of keeping this topic stickied.

As much as I would like to see this scrapped and started over, I doubt that would actually happen. We already had a poll when we were already saying that we didn't want this up anymore, but somehow the majority came to be those in favor of leaving it open. And after the poll, like, nobody contributed to this.

I still say we should scrap this. We've done all we can, and there's not much hope left to revitalizing it.

tbh if this was scrapped and a new one was started, I don't think we'd see a lot of contributions either.

agreed, if we do i doubt we'd see a lot of activity. truth be told i don't think very many people around here are up to the task of doing proper isometric sprites, especially not at a collab scale. maybe we could do another drawing collab, albeit a much smaller one

I like the sound of that.

If we are going to scrap this, then are the Iso Collab badges gonna get handed out to those that had contributed?

I'd be game for another drawing collab

I'm not sure if this collaboration is still up or not, but I went ahead and updated tiles 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12, and 35. Below are the updated tiles:

EDIT: I'll claim 49 and 52 now.

So, I had finished 49 and 52 now. Here's how they looked:

Well, it looks like that all of the desert tiles are finally finished now! :D

I propose making a new poll, i.e. "Should this Iso Collab be scrapped?" with the following answers:

"No."
"Yes, and plan a new Iso Collab."
"Yes, and maybe plan some other kind of collab."
"Yes, and don't plan any further collabs."

The collab will be scrapped if "No" receives less than half of the votes, even if it happens to be the majority among the four choices. The fate of collabs in the near future will be decided by the most preferred "Yes" option.

We don't have to vote, no one is interested in this, except QNova.

A poll has been added.

The poll will run until 4th of February

The people have spoken, this collab is now officially scrapped.

(I maybe try another kind of isometric collab...)
