Mario Learns About Colors: Recolored by ElykDo you know your ABC's? What about your 123's? Maybe you do, but are you familiar with all the colors of the rainbow? There's a good chance you do, but Elyk's latest game teaches you what happens when you blend colors together - and it happens to be a fun game for the post-kindergarten set, too! Mario Learns About Colors: Recolored blends platform and puzzle elements throughout its 30 levels. By hitting assorted switch blocks, you can change Mario's colors, which allows Mario to pass through like-colored blocks and gain invulnerability to same-hued enemies. Sometimes you'll even have to hit a series of blocks to change to the desired color - for example, hitting a red switch and then a yellow switch will turn Mario orange, facilitating movement through orange blocks. Fortunately, these Mario-painting operations can be reset simply by bopping a gray block. The early levels are quite easy, but the levels grow progressively harder, introducing new enemies and obstacles at a fair pace. You'll even face a few boss battles, including some tough ones. The game's soundtrack doesn't scream for attention, but the mellow tunes allow you to maintain your concentration throughout the more dastardly puzzles. There's also solid replay value, since the game keeps track of record times for each level, and you can go back and try to collect all the coins in each area. Overall, it's a fun and creative way to spend an hour or two - and that's what fangaming is all about.
