The Purple Coin by Miles

Coins. They're everywhere in Mario games. They're lying on the ground, they float mysteriously in the air, they fill the bellies of many a [?] Block. In fact, it's almost impossible to play most Mario games without scooping up a great multitude of these golden goodies. But have you ever looked at life from the coins' perspective? Maybe some of them would prefer freedom and independence over getting stuffed in the pockets of psuedo-Italian plumbers!

In Miles' winning entry in the latest Minigame Competition, you take control of a magical purple coin, seeking to avoid collection by the endless stream of Mario Bros. clones. The odds might seem to be stacked heavily against you - except this is no ordinary coin! First of all, you can float and jump around - abilities absent from ordinary currency. You can use your powers of locomotion to activate trap doors, and you can also hide under the floor if the situation gets a little too hairy for you. Better yet, you can temporarily possess the greedy bros who are after you. Once you're controlling a bro, you try to cause as much mayhem as possible with the other bros before your power runs out! If this sounds like fun, it is.

The Purple Coin is one of the most enjoyable minigames we've seen on MFGG lately. It's a fresh, innovative game with superb replay value that's enhanced further by the online high scores feature. It also uses clashing-free graphics and a musical remix that's earned high marks (full disclosure: I made the remix myself). I recommend MFGGers unite in the protection of magical purple coins and check this game out!

I'm surprised this has gotten such good reception. I guess I'm the only one that can see the glaring problems present, especially in the MGC version (the first released). I thank you all for playing!

Bravo, I really think this game deserved Game of the Month. No doubt about it; It's one of the best games I have played in a while.
