Mario's Deadly Flight 2 by SupernovaLittle green men in saucer-shaped spacecraft. Killer asteroids with minds of their own. Ferocious monsters possessing excessive numbers of eyes and outlandishly hyperextended tentacles. That's par for the course in the land of space shooters. However, Supernova's latest Minigame Competition winner takes the genre in a slightly different direction! Mario (or, for the rebels in the crowd, Luigi) rides a jetpack and carries a mouse-controlled ray gun as his sole defense from the onslaught of Furbies - yes, Supernova has proven to us by now that he likes those bunny-eared rascals of the late 90's. Along the way, you try to accumulate as many SMG-inspired Star Bits as possible, and you bump into increasingly-challenging boss Furbies once in a while. With frenetic action and plenty of replay value thanks to the online high scores system, MDF 2 is another fun game that should keep you playing a while. Supernova has turned out a number of enjoyable shooters in the past few months, including Red Scare and the first Mario's Deadly Flight, that had the misfortune of being released during some very competitive months on MFGG, so it's high time he scooped up another Game of the Month award.
