Just gonna say this: Ad-Block Plus is my bestest friend. It can be yours, too - when doing anything with Mediafire, use Firefox and that particular add-on and you should be fine. Use IE (or whatever your preferred browser is) with everything else. I'd say that'd work out well for you.
