It's been seven years since I've submitted sprites to the MFGG main site, but here I am with some new content I've submitted and I'm really having fun with it. In this thread you will find such works as well as anything else I feel like sharing.

Pedigree's Goomba 2017

Created for the Sprite Competition 2017 #2: Bowser's Minions. This is my first sprite sheet in a long time, and I hope you like it. Gave it Mario's hat and stache in celebration of Super Mario Odyssey. I really like how the walking animation turned out but the hat and stache could use some more work. Perhaps I'll update them again later.

Pedigree's Piranha Beetle 2017
Image Image

I created this enemy 10 years ago and thought I would revisit it. Hope you like!

Introducing Piranha Beetle. Buzzy Beetles have disguised themselves as Piranha Plants to ward off predators (and Mario). Its habitat is grassy fields and meadows and it walks along the ground. Unlike the usual Buzzy Beetles, Piranha Beetle cannot walk on the ceiling... Probably due to the extra weight from decorating its shell.

Once attacked, its leaves fall off and it withdraws into its shell. Popping back out of it after a duration.

Stay tuned for more in the future. I look forward to hearing what you think!

Pedigree's Blueberry Hill Tileset 2017
Image

Revisiting an old tileset from 2004 called Midnight Valley, there were some colors used that I really loved and thought I would make a new tileset to utilize them. I hope you like! Also submitted to MFGG!

Is it just me, or does the shading look a little more like you used the bevel tool in something like Photoshop?

Actually, I think this is better answered by another artist instead of the original one. For example, an artist could draw legs that actually look somewhat off. When someone points it out and the original artist denies that claim, does that mean the original artist is right in spite of the glaring mistake? With due respect, I'd rather not take your word.

I am telling you as the artist that neither photoshop or its bevel tool were used.

Oh yeah, I remember that sprite sheet! It was one of the first sheets I downloaded back when I first discovered MFGG about a decade ago. I've always wanted to do something with that level theme. It's nice to see you revisiting that.

Thanks, I appreciate that! Actually, King Piranha Plant brought this sheet up to me so I kind of owe it to him for reminding me! Heh!

What I mean is that you shaded it in a way that looks like you used the bevel tool. Whether or not you actually used it is inconsequential.

I'm pointing this out because I used to shade in a similar fashion to you. In spite of only using the dodge and burn tools, I was still accused of using a bevel by a certain other pixel art community. As such, I was thinking that some other artist would say that your shading looks beveled.

Love the color theme on the Blueberry Tileset. I'd suggest adding a little more detail to the blueberries (maybe crowns?) so it's more clear what they're supposed to be.
