My style of sprites are very similar to Neweegee's and Kopejo's, as they are my main inspirations when it comes to sprite art. I don't mind super cartoony sprites like Mit's, in fact I adore them. But I prefer a little more shading and saturation on my sprites. I also only hue shift when I feel it's needed. Reducing the saturation just sucks out the color and life from the sprites in my honest opinion. I also like having lots of poses and animations in my sprite sheets, more than your typical sprite sheet that's for sure.

Here's a preview of the sprites I am working on. Keep in mind that they are a work in progress, but if you see anything that looks off, let me know, and I'll be sure to fix it!

Very decent! Reminds me of Kopejo's and Shikaternia's tilesets.

There's room for more details though. :)

The Bob-omb Battlefield tileset is significantly better, at least when it comes to grass. The grass on the second one has really thick shading and I don't think it looks good.

It would be a lot easier to judge their quality, though, if we could see them in larger screenshots; preferably one showing off all of the times in their natural habitat.

Well I mean that's how it looked in the original. I mean what do you expect me to do? There's not much I can do to make it better while staying true to the original.

Edit:

Okay maybe I could've edited it a little more but still.

You can clearly see the original's has texture. You've got a completely sold piece of gray, whereas the original demonstrates an almost marble-esque texture.

Thanks for the advice. I will edit that one soon.

He made that post to whine about people not posting in this thread.

Give it time. The more art you share, the more people are likely to post - now, to clarify, it's not a guarantee anything will happen, but it will certainly help your odds. Nobody likes someone who bumps their thread purposefully just to complain that no one's posted. I should know, I was guilty of that back in the day occasionally and it did nothing but make me look like a egotistical narcissist.

Patience is virtue =)

It's just that I get sick of the cynical negativity in communities like this. Critiquing users is fine, but there are lines that are crossed one time too many.

I like that we use the same blue as a background color when making sprites and tilesets.

Overall I like most of these. I like that the SMB set mimics the ground pattern from the original game. I feel that the contrast on bob-omb battlefield's dirt might be a bit too high (even if it was similar in the actual game). As Will said, the gray land forms are missing their marble texture.

I really like the bowser tilesets tho, I think they're my favourites.

Thank you! Finally someone actually giving feedback! But yeah thanks! What are some tilesets you would like me to make?

I'd like you to try taking a shot at these,

Sonic 2 inspired Casino
Tropical Jungle/Forest
Canyon
Toy Land
Coral reef

Though, I really like your tilesets! I hope to see some more from you!
