only one other person that's seen this has told me that, and he was talking more about the shading, not the actual shape of the tongue. this has lead me to think you're talking about where it starts inside the mouth, so i might as well tell you that rounding it out would make it look odd and not very appealing

that's a 3D render, which naturally allows more detail than a 40x40 sprite (actually a 36x38 sprite, but you get what i mean). how i did the tongue is probably one of the more sensible ways of doing it, instead of just having it be an oval with increasingly dark shading. the tongue getting thinner is an illusion that's trying to convey depth. maybe you should try and make an edit of what you think it should look like, and i'll see what i can do, ok?

Sorry for not following up to the earlier question about references earlier- what I meant to advise is pretty much using a reference whenever possible to get proportions more accurately, and get closer to the overall design. (For drawings, mostly.)
...of course, you could mess with those proportions some, but it's still important to have your audience recognize what you're depicting. (Not that your drawings are even bad, but some things did look off in one of your characters.)

I don't know of any of that makes sense, I haven't given advice over using references before.

Oh, and your King Boo sprite looks spot-on.
