I'm making a two player tower defense game, and I need some advice. You spend coins to attack/defend, and I'm not sure about the pricing. Each play consistently gets one coin every two second, and another two coins for every mushroom a player has on the field.
Here are the Items:
Goomba:
The goomba charges forward regardless of the obstacles ahead of him. If he collides with an enemy goomba, both instantly die.
Bill Blaster:
The bill blaster shoots bullet bills to stop the goombas. It takes two bullets to kill a goomba. The bill blaster is instantly destroyed when a goomba attacks it.
Pirana Plant:
The pirana plant is like a wall, killing the first two goombas that try to attack it. However, the third goomba kills the pirana plant unharmed.
Golden mushroom:
The golden mushroom gives an additional coin every two seconds go by. If a goomba attacks it, the mushroom will be destroyed. There is also a limit of mushrooms per player, but the limit is undetermined.
Bob-ombs:
Bob-ombs charge ahead like goombas, but explode when they hit anything, including mushrooms and bullet bills. They instantly explode if caught in another explosion.
Land mines:
Land mines just sit in the ground, waiting for an unfortunate goomba or bob-omb.
Like bob-ombs, the explode if caught in another blast.

Also, I'm having trouble figuring out the staring amount of coins

Oh, as a basis, I was thinking a goomba would be five coins

Hey, what's the format of the game? A screen shot would be handy here. Is the TD a top-down, or on a platform, or something else? I can try to help if there is more info.

Couple of vital questions if we can't try it for ourselves:

Bobombs are goombas but explosive?
Bills are destroyed when they hit something?
What happens when a bill hits a blaster, plant, mushroom, bobomb, or other bill?
Do explosions immediately destroy mushrooms, blasters, plants, and bills? How big are they?
Do blasters fire constantly, or only when they have a target?
Friendly fire with Bills and Bombs?
Where are bombs and goombas generated?
Do mushrooms give one coin or two per two seconds?

Balance is hard, and coming at it from a mathematical standpoint is harder. I'd say just assign values for now and adjust them as you find them to be unbalanced.

Honestly, I can't say for sure how I'd do balance since I'm not too familiar with the game mechanics. (looks like Plants vs Zombies but I don't know how that game works)

I'd start with like, tree plot thinking, and break down the game a little in terms of strategy and thinking from a gamer standpoint. I tend to do this in my head so I couldn't help draw out a plan, but I hope this little point is helpful at least.

2-Do mushrooms give one coin or two per two seconds?

1- bombs and goombas are generated where a player spawns one
2- mushrooms give one additional coin per two seconds
3- blasters fire constantly, and only affect bombs and goombas, and friendly fire doesn't hurt
4- only if a bomb comes in direct contact with it (mines and bombs explode immediately), and the size is about four squares, but the center is in the center of the square
5-yes for both
Sorry for answering in a messy way

I would start with relative values. It looks like bobombs will generally do 2-3x as much damage as goombas. Unless explosions also go vertically? A smart player would send out lone goombas to trigger mines with minimum loss. Blasters seem rather powerful when put near the back. Mushrooms should, I think, balance themselves at any cost, and you can adjust it for shorter or longer games. Pirranhas will destroy two goombas or one bobomb. Also, keep in mind that amassing large quantities of coins is difficult, so cost should not be directly proportionate to power.

explosions reach all adjacent and diagonal squares, but will not affect anything but mines and bombs unless a direct collision occurs, therefore preventing players from sending a long chain of bombs too quickly
