Hello everybody. I was making this game in my spare time and I realized, "this game won't be nearly as good without some help with it."
That's when you come in! I may not be the best programmer out there, but with a little muscle from the community, we can turn an average game into a MASTERPIECE!

What is the game about?

In a certain time and place, Bowser has invaded the Mushroom Kingdom. Usually the Mario Brothers save anybody they can from such tyranny, but not everybody. In an isolated forest world, Bowser's troops have begun to take over the land. And with no heroes to save the day, the residents of the world have banded up to fight the opposing forces. You play as a young Toad boy named Phillip who joins the rebels and fights for his land. However, it is a journey full of twists and turns and who knows what will happen.

What makes it unique?

Aside from the story, it will have cutscenes and scrolling text. But I hear you ask, " I was talking about the controls." Well, the jumping mechanic will be limited in the game since it won't be huge factor like in most Mario games, but will mostly focus on gun gameplay. While you won't have this feature right away, it will allow you to enemies and objects in order to progress like so...

What is done so far?
I have made a demo of what I think the beginning of the game might look like. It isn't much, (I didn't even add the gun mechanic, :nope: ) but at lest it is something of a proof of concept.
Spoiler:

Jobs needed
  • Programmer
Since my knowledge of programming isn't great, I will need some help to make the controls, layout, AI, etc. great!

Jobs that are much appreciated
  • Composer
  • Sprite Artist
  • Level Designer
  • Artist/Cartoonist (To help make the cutscenes look better.)
I will be doing this stuff by myself or pull them from the internet, but If anybody who is good at any of these jobs and is willing to help work on the game is welcomed aboard.

Anyways, let me know what you think and if you are willing to team up!

Are you open to using Studio 1.x or Studio 2.x? Most MFGGers, myself included, don't or can't use Game Maker Legacy anymore.

Yeah. I was thinking about redoing the whole game in a new program anyway.

There are still quite a few MFGGers who use GM 8.x - myself included - although many have moved on to Studio 1.4 or 2. The syntax is pretty much the same in GM 8.1 and Studio, so people should be able to help you regardless of the GM environment they prefer.
