He has said that Yoshi is gonna be able to vertically reach places that no other character can reach, which doesn't really happen in SM64DS.

I never said that.

It's written in the OP.

Imo somebody doesn't have to condone their defenders if they make a poor defense.

What I meant to say is that Yoshi will have an easier time reaching higher places. Not entirely sure if Yoshi will be able to access areas the others can't. Still trying to decide.

This would be entirely dependent on level design, I think. You can make it where all heights are reachable by all characters, and Yoshi can just get there higher, or you can add some slightly higher cliffs that only Yoshi can reach.

Bob Omb Battlefield is looking good so far. I'm going to try and keep the level design as close to the original as possible, but not if it hinders the level design. I'll release a Demo once I'm completely finished with the first mission.

Oh and for now, I'd like to ask which color palette I should use for the characters.

Image

The first one is my standard one, the second one is more modern, the third one gives off an N64 vibe, and with the fourth, I was going for a Super Mario RPG look. I'm probably going to go with the first one, but if enough of you prefer one of them, I'll go with that one. The enemies and NPC's will be more modern so I think it'd be best to use the second one. But if enough people prefer a certain one, I'll most likely use whichever one you guys prefer. However, I would like to see what people outside of MFGG would prefer.

I like the 3rd and 4th the most, personally. Slightly favored to the 4th.

Also, what would be a good name for a 2D recreation of Super Mario 64?

Super Mario 64 2D
I mean it's a 2D recreation of Super Mario 64 so why not?

Super Mario 16
Since it only had "64" in the title because it was a 64 bit game, why not have "16" in the title since it's a 16 bit game? I don't know.

Super Mario Ultra (Or Super Mario 64 Ultra)
For all 2 of you who didn't know, the Nintendo 64 was originally called the Ultra 64, but they ended up calling it the Nintendo 64. Kinda like how the Wii was going to be the Revolution.

Any recommendations?

I have some stupid names for it...

Spoiler:

But I honestly think Super Mario 16 would work best for it.

A name which is not directly derived from Super Mario 64 would probably be best.

I would agree, except how will someone know that this is a 2D Super Mario 64 from the title?

Perhaps incorporating 'painting' or 'portal' or something would indicate a direct correlation to the original SM64. Although, the title may not necessarily need to indicate that it's a SM64 remake if the description section explains what it is.

Or go for the route of a more original game than a SM64 clone so you can give it an unique name

Almost done my Bob Omb Battlefield tileset. I will release it once it's finished.

Some other sprite sheets I'm currently working on are my Mario Sprite Sheet, Goomba Sprite Sheet, Items And Objects Tileset, and my Koopa Troopa Sprite Sheet.

The ones I'm gonna make after I finish those are my Luigi Sprite Sheet, Bob Omb Sprite Sheet, Cool Cool Mountain Tileset, and my Princess Peach Sprite Sheet. But before I start working on these, I need to finish the other ones.
