Most of us dabble in fangames here, and many of us have actually released one or two in our time, but I'd wager that there are a lot of fangame ideas that never see the light of day either due to not knowing enough about game development or the tools you're using to build them, or simply not having enough time (that's my personal issue right there).
Luigi Quest Before most of you even knew MFGG existed, I was making a Luigi fangame called Luigi Quest. The story was something like:
"A Dark Star has crashed into the Mushroom Kingdom and Mario has gone missing. A mysterious shadowy figure with a mustache is lurking about and everyone thinks Bowser is behind Mario's disappearance! Enter Luigi, who is on a quest to find his missing brother and save the day."
Basically the Dark Star posesses Mario and he's the final boss. Zones included the usual grass land, desert, water and so on. 3 levels and a castle in each zone, with each second stage of each world including some interesting gimmick. Sadly I never ended up finishing it, but I had a lot of good ideas that I would have loved to have seen finished. These days, Luigi fangames are a dime a dozen I'm sure, but back then there wasn't a lot of love for Luigi and good ole Luigi Quest is still an idea that I would have loved to make.
Mario Land: Minigame Mayhem 2 This is a game I would love to make, a sequel to my 10-year effort. Finishing my last game was bittersweet, it was old and crusty and there was a lot I didn't like about it, but too much was done to leave it unfinished so I worked hard to get it in a state I could call "done". Still, there's so much more I could've done, and a sequel would help me realise those ideas.
I've actually ripped a great plethora of graphics from Bowser's Inside Story to make a sequel, mainly because I found that almost all backgrounds hadn't been ripped yet, especially the parts that have animation, so I did it myself, ready to use in a sequel. I have a huge list of minigame ideas to include, a storyline that's actually pretty cool and I have a good engine for the overworld and for platform sections...
...but just don't have the time. My Son is a 6:00am to 7:00pm job, and by the time I'm done with that, I simply have no desire to work on anything else.
Super Kritter Land Or something to that effect. I always wanted to make a Marioesque fangame starring my character, I had a story all worked up and the gameplay would be part Mario, part Megaman and all awesome. Levels would be all twisted looking versions of Mario levels, as the game takes place in "The Void" where Kritter makes his home. Defeating each boss gives Kritter back a unique ability that has been stolen from him. But it's one of those ideas that'll likely just sit in the back of my mind forever I'm sure.

Go on then, share some of your ideas for a fangame you'd love to make.
