Long story short: I bought a new computer and transferred one of my projects onto it. I was making the project in Game Maker 8.1. I tried to install it on the new computer, but when I go to Yoyo Games I can only find downloads for Game Maker Studio and Game Maker for Mac. After a few failed attempts to transfer the installer onto my new computer, I gave up. What do I do?

I'm pretty sure they removed the legacy versions. Perhaps you can pirate it, or move on.

It's probably best to move on to Studio, if you can.

I can give you a copy of GM8.1. It won't be an installer, just the files. PM me if you want it.

I just need to finish the final boss and make a short ending cutscene. Is it possible to convert a legacy game maker project into a Studio project? Just so there isn't any confusion here, I DO still have it on my old comp; I'd just be able to work on it more and get it done a lot faster on the new one.

Yes, you can import a GM8 game into Game Maker: Studio. Just be aware that some functions (that weren't that useful) are absent, even though there are some more powerful ones. It may take a few bits of code swapping to make sure it works 100% finely.

GM8 games can be imported into Studio. Simple games may run without requiring any adjustments. However, some GM8 functions don't work in Studio, and in some cases, devising a workaround can be complicated and time-consuming. Since the game is almost complete, it's easiest just to finish the game in GM 8.1.
