Wait... you've bothered to do this since you shed your role as an Admin here?

that is more or less irrelevant.

as previous admin and one of the only people who still exist here since before the site began, plus the fact that one of my games were stolen, yes

OK, most Mario fangames are, in the grand scheme of things, relatively obscure. So I get why he would steal most of them. But seriously, Super Mario Bros Crossover? That game practically has a cult following of its own (or at least it did when it first came out... I haven't been paying attention to the current goings-on there). Trying to claim it as your own is practically suicide!

Yeah, law isn't going to help here. That's why I've released Bowser's Last Stand to the public domain; the law is not on our side when it comes to fangames.

Trying to make it difficult to change the games isn't going to help much, either. Nothing is uncrackable; if someone really wants to do it, he/she WILL succeed. I don't think good disclaimers would help with this either, for the same reason. It's not like players should be expected to read those and be suspicious if they aren't there.

It seems to me that the only possible solution is to try to make the information spread somewhat virally. Sticky a warning topic listing sites like this, and alert people on other similar forums. It's really the best any of us can do.

personally,
I have no problem with somebody taking something of mine and not giving credit for it,
even if Ive asked for it,
decompile my game and turn it into something else,
knock your socks off! you have my permission!
hell, ask me, and I might even send you the source!
Im not going to be greedy.
as long as you promise not to be greedy with it.

its when they claim stuff as all theirs that i have a problem with, especially when its blatantly obvious that
somebody else did all the work.
that kind of thing, just makes me sick.

Death threats...? I guess the fact that I'm new here contributes to why that doesn't ring a bell.

It was all a joke really,
when click libs were the standard.
Little stick figure that said "You" over it,
and the submitters fan character.

"Will you give credit for this?"
Click "yes" you see the lib
click "No" the stick figure dies.

So is this guy actually editing the text in the fangames using a hex program? I mean, it's an awful lot of trouble just to post someone else's stuff on another website.

Its incredibly simple to do.

He also use GM decomplier and decompile Hello's game and modify some part.

What's really surprising is he seems to have a decent flash game on Newgrounds that has a good rating. You'd think if he can make good games, he would... you know, just make his own games. Doing crap like this only hurts him in the long run.

Over 300 fangames he claims to be responsible for (often with changed titles). Only a handful actually are (the only one I'm at all sure he actually had something to do with is called "Mario Forever Flash"; it's on Newgrounds). What I thought was funny was Super Smash Flash was one of them, but a screenshot clearly shows the correct title, Super Smash Flash, which conflicts with the changed title.

I think it was already mentioned in this topic, but he also does something similar with videos. He has like 5 videos of Super Mario Bros Crossover called something along the lines of "secret Contra SMB level". What's even more funny is he applauds himself in the video descriptions.

I dunno why he stole them either. When you look at Mario Forever you'd say the site owner knows a good deal of GM programming and is easily capable of making his own epic fangames

Last time I checked, Mario Forever was created in Multimedia Fusion.

I suppose that's not really the point though.

Mario Forever Galaxy and Mario Worker is made from Game Maker 7.

I was think he was talking about "Mario Forever Flash", which is on Newgrounds. I didn't find it anywhere else, so it seems "Softendo" legitimately had some involvement in it.

My question is what about for games that are made under Clickteam products? Because common sense would tell me that when we have a fangame project finalized, we are to make a copy of the source game (via different filename), and then... under all circumstances... protect the game -- so that it can't be messed around with when we submit it to the site (this site, of course).

GM can't do Flash games.
