Especially when you consider Mario's actual anniversary was lackluster x_x

If we could round up a few people to help, it might just be a fun project! ^^

If enough people want it we might be able to start another CP.

Hmm, could work. We'd need to be able to organize it all properly though. And not just like, the ideas and stuff. Like actual participants and stuff. You saw what happened to Sonic 2 HD, right? Well, maybe not, but poor management and clashing ideas lead it to it's CP grave (even if it's still being worked on by a closed team or something).

I think I have that covered, for the organization part. I'll just set up the basic parts and then have a simple submision system, were it's voted on by the members, and then have a document stating whats in it, thats up to date with the accepted suubmisions. Shouldn't be hard on my forum(That isn't this one.) that I set up.

I could help. I'm a-kinda ok spriter and a levels designer. But Stalin is right. We have to organize our ideas and have helping team members. Anyways, why don't we name it "Mario's Time Machine?"
....Wait a second....

Maybe: Mario Lost in Time?

Anyway, I'll start making a board on my forum, and I'll add in the basic info and rules.

We'll continue this conversation and brainstorming over there.

Couldn't think of a friend or rival to represent that game or 3D Land. Toadsworth for the former, maybe?

And I'm glad to see that some of you are actually liking this idea. :o

Hmm, well not quite yet. We still need to know if enough people are interested in this project before we start anything. I like your enthusiasm though! ^^

I've decided to turn it into a CP on my Forums that I started fairly recently.
Hopefully people like the idea of a Mario Anniversary game.

I actually had an idea for a Mario anniversary game for quite a while. It's kinda in the same vein as Sonic Generations and borrows elements from Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time.

The story starts with Luigi, Peach, and a whole bunch of their friends throwing a big surprise party for Mario. While they are celebrating, Professor E. Gadd is finishing working on his brand new time machine in his lab (a repaired version of the one from PiT). Things go awry, and the time machine malfunctions, causing everyone in the Mushroom Kingdom to be sucked into Time Holes popping up everywhere. Now Mario, with E. Gadd's help, must rescue his friends and bring time back into order and figure out who's behind all of this, or something like that.

The HUB world would be Professor E. Gadd's laboratory, and the worlds will be split into eras, with each level representing a past Mario platformer. You collect Power Stars ala SM64 to move on to the next era. Depending on the level, you would either rescue a friend or fight a rival (who joins you later).

For example:

Nostalgic Era
- Super Mario Bros. (save Luigi)
- Super Mario Bros. 2 (defeat Birdo)
- Super Mario Bros. 3 (save Toad)

16-Bit Era
- Super Mario World (save Yoshi)

Portable Power Era
- Super Mario Land (save Daisy)
- Super Mario Land 2 (defeat Wario)

64 + 128 Era
- Super Mario 64 (defeat Waluigi in a tennis-themed minigame)

Millennium Era
- Super Mario Galaxy (save Rosalina)
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii (save Blue Toad and Yellow Toad)

...and so forth. There'd also be little side areas based on the non-platformer/spin-off titles, like a ghost house level based on Luigi's Mansion, or a sewer level based on the original arcade Mario Bros.

As for the level structure, think open worlds like the 3D games with a few linear sections more akin to the 2D games.

Along the way you'd run into well-known bosses that Mario's fought frequently in past games, like King Boo, the Koopalings, or Petey Piranha. Oh, and somehow Bowser would have to be there, too.

Wish I could make this myself, but ehhhh. As you can see, I haven't really thought this out that much.

I'm totally making this. Wanna help, yosh?

if we do end up doing this, we should link the GMK files into something like dropbox. that way, we don't have to constantly update.

Well, we do have a thread on here and zdude has a forum on his site for discussion, even though not many people are using it. Take your pick ^^

Not many are using the forums, mostly due to it being new.
