I think I agree with what Kritter said. Whenever I saw the old "Help" forum I knew exactly what to use it for. Developer Discussion, ever since the first day I saw it, felt far too serious and specific for what MFGG is. Any thread I've ever felt like posting in Developer Discussion I'd rather have posted in Gaming, Help, or General Chat. I guess if our community were gigantic, that forum would be more useful. But seeing as we're all MFGGers, talking about MFGG stuff in General Chat feels pretty organic to me.
The biggest thing though, for me personally, is that the name "Developer Discussion" takes away a lot of the fun of it. I remember back when we'd talk about fangames, level design, or games in PPP and General Chat. It was always unexpected and fun, just like raw, organic conversation. I think I'll always like big, vague forums more than strict, narrow ones.
