If only there was a keyhole tutorial for game maker. But I guess I can still pull it off by creating a keyhole sprite that grows incredibly large and shrink when you leave the room :/

I'm going to take a look at your Mario World Engine, if you don't mind :3. I've been a smw "modder" (or hacker) for years (though the games I released are called Yoshiro (fullversion) and Super Mario World: The castle of time).

I know everything there is to Mario world (in my perspective) and so I'm going to check it out for a bit as to human curiosity.

It's not possible with the Game Maker. If you want to have nice effects and 3D, it's not a good idea to use Game Maker. Use something like C++/SDL, it gives you more control over everything. It might look hard to you from judging it, but it's really easy as a fact.

Like DBY said, Game Maker is very limited on graphical effects and multiplayer system.

I'll need to learn that programming language. That's what will set the barrier for me :/ I never really viewed languages outside of gml and (a little of rgss)

But I do agree that game maker does limits you...a bit too much at that xD. I'll need to take a programming class one day.

I personally think it's possible with making the animation yourself, and just go to the room you want when the animation ends. I think you mean the keyhole from SMW, just try to rip the effect. It's exactly what you said, simple things can work too.
