They actually don't look all that bad. The only thing that looks a little out of place is the Mario sprite.

I was in fact talking about the Mario, but he could do with a little recoloring to make him more in style.

Erm, how? I thought he fit perfectly, silly me again :whoops: Also, recolor how? How should I make him fit the style?

The best way to go about doing this is probably taking colors from the tileset or other sprites in the style and applying them to the Mario.

Oh, yeah, thanks. Also, I think I need to change the outline.
EDIT: Tried, but it even fits less. Will probably post a screeny later today.

So, this is the best I could get with using colors from Drag's tileset:

Image

For some reason, the Drag tileset has some weird red colors. Now I don't know how Mario would fit :(
Also, the previous Mario sprite, did he really clash so much?

EDIT: There's another option to recolor the red parts, but it'll be too dark and too purple in my opinion.

Image

Also, can anyone please edit the music a little. I noticed it plays the Birdo battle music. If someone could cut that out for me, I would be very happy :D

Sorry for triple posting, but a new engine test is here!

-Some changes in the level: added a bonus room and removed the music block and the tornado leaf.
-Added a map system like in SMW, far from done though
-Minor colission fixes

Also, here's a screeny of the map if you're not likely to donwload the engine test:

And finally, the new engine test: http://www.sendspace.com/file/a04thw

The engine is decent so far, but in my opinion, there are some errors which need to be addressed.

Fireballs need to bounce faster (They bounce on the ground too slowly).
Collision detection on the ? Blocks needs to be reworked (My head bumps slightly inside the ? Blocks.
Mario moves too slow even his running speed is sluggish.

You are doing a good job though. Keep up the good work! I hope this game doesn't get canceled like Goombot 2... :(

Well, this reasion Goombot 2 is scrapped, is because I could do so much more and it was too late to put it in the engine, withour glitching up. And about the problems:

-k, will do something about that soon.
-yeah, this glitch came later, but it was or this or oddly falling trough walls. I'll see what I can do about it.
-Really? Well, okay, I think I'll change the running and walking speed a bit.

Also, about the progress: the map screen isn't going that well, it has many glitches in it but I hope I can get it right. If I can't, I have to do it with the SMB3 method or like in my previous games: walking in a small field and go to whatever level you want via pipes.

Too late, buddy :) . Already changed the colors of the grass and the water because I thought it didn't really fit. If you want, I can post a screeny.

EDIT: Got a working name, thanks to Goombaking :D
EDIT2: ...got the map system working. I don't know how, BUT I DID IT!
EDIT3: Woah, a lot of edits. Anyway, finished the problems of MSC (sort of):

-Fixed.
-Tried, but unfortunatetly couldn't fix it. Will try again later.
-Tried, succeeded, but it just doesn't seem to fit. I'll keep the speed he has now.

Are you using an 8x8 SMW map tileset to make your world map? Cause I absolutely loathe using a 16x16 version of the SMW map tileset due to its incompleteness (lack of two other types of ow slope degrees used as a border and cliffs when designing SMW OW for SMW hacks) and the cause for perspective errors with the corners.

ATTENTION! I am in need of coders to help fix Mario's physics for Mysterious Islandz. The game as it stands, is quite glitchy. If you are good at GM8 and is capable of reading FDE Exi's code, PM me!

I don't need a better one to know that this is unoriginal.
Also, it runs a bit slow, though 8.1 might make it that way if you use 8.1.
