First of all, this game is gorgeous. Excellent job with the graphics, you guys. The music is great as well. I was most excited that you took my advice and added the little pause when a fire flower is collected. Brought a smile to my face. By way of bugs, etc. I only have a few comments. The first is the speech boxes. If someone said this, I'm sorry.

Image

there is a transparent line on the bottom and right sides.

Another thing I noticed, and maybe it's just me, is that getting the high jump off springs seems very counter-intuitive. I'm used to jumping as the spring bounces you, but it seems that you have to jump as you press it down.

Some of the sound effects are very loud, like the spring.

The water sounds are a bit out of place and loud as well.

Overall, a phenomenal job. I can't wait for more. Now if I can just beat that damned Tanoomba...

You can fix the transparency problem by going to options/graphic settings/ and checking off "I have rectangle glitch". It's a weird glitch that messes up the text box and often time the water but that should take care of it.

As for the spring, all you have to do is be holding down the jump button when you bounce off. Heck, you could just continue to hold the jump button down after you jump on it and it'll work. Theres really no timing involved. Or was that your complaint? I may have misunderstood.

As for sounds, go to options/sound settings/ and adjust the sound to how you want it. I personally find that 85 sounds about right.

Wow, I kinda hoped for, but didn't expect THIS kind of positive response!
Even though there are so many bugs in the game left, and it's only one short episode, you guys seem to be totally amazed by what we have made.

Believe me when I say that this will not be canceled, especially after reading the comments in this topic!

Thanks!

Also @grammar/spelling errors:
f***! How could that happen to me? ;_;
(Although I do find the "sweatheart" one kinda funny... must be why I never found it even though I read over it 1000 times.

And the bugs are minor it's not like you get stuck in walls and all that stuff!
Did this take you long to make?

The total process of making this game probably dates back 2 years or even 3, depending on how you look at it.
But we didn't work on it full time, so it sounds like more than it really was.
Most work was done in the two past summer holidays and this winter holiday.

Originally it was a game about Kamek's ancestors, so it's been around for a while, and it's changed a lot.

To jump out of the water, all you need to do is to be close to the surface (with mario's head sticking out), and then jump.
And keep the jump button pressed when you do. If you mash the jump button to "swim up quickly" you'll let go of the button because the jump happens unexpectedly. It's a timing thing, and once you figured it out very easy to do.

The path opens from the castle to the right. It's visually not that ... obvious, but we didn't want to destroy the castle garden with paths and break through the back wall :)

Ah, maybe some signs could explain some of these mechanics? All the "bugs" I come across seem to be just finicky controls.

Hi.

So I tried it, and I loved it of course. Here are the bugs and comments I have to report though:

The weirdest thing happened to me all along when I played it. The mask that is suppose to make Mario and Luigi a little brighter than the rest of the screen was inversed and so the character was always surrounded by a shadow circle ( I took a screen but left it on my other comp). I don't know if anyone else experience this bug, but it was pretty annoying.

I think you should make it so when you press escape from the dse gadd menu, you get back to the playing field instead of closing the game (wich I did at criticals moments)

I really really enjoyed the rain forest boss btw.

The 2 other thing I regret a little are

1/ Some environment could use a little more details cause they are really to empty in my opinion (undersea level for example, the interiors of Toad's houses, and even the rain forrest a little), also the rain could be a little stronger I think.

2/ Sometimes the game lacks a little of action for my taste, I mean things coming up quicker one after another, in a more dynamic way (i don't know if you get what I m trying to say)

Anyway, I really enjoyed it, you guys did a great job. I hope to play the second chapter soon, and that you will come up with more good ideas as the boss I mentioned.

Good luck

I love this game. It is so fun, and I beat every level. Few games are this polished.

Am I supposed to be able to get the gold shroom in this screenshot (rm01_05_sewers)?

Because I can't. I thought that maybe you aren't supposed to be able to reach it yet, but... just asking, you know :)

Oh man, this game is bloody brilliant. Definitely worth the wait. The music is great, the control is smooth, the levels are interesting...It's got everything.

Also: This happened.
Image
If you don't see it, the fireball is stuck there forever.(PS I had to die here because the shell left me unable to get past. Oops!)

Some suggestions:
Make the walk speed a bit faster. There's pretty much NO reason to not run, really.
Give a short explanation of the Lakitu minigame right before it starts. Most minigames do this, and I was a little confused for a little bit. Also make Mario fall off when hit.
Let us set the movement keys on our gamepads. Mine forces me to use the stick which is rather uncomfortable, but I managed to use Xpadder to make the D-pad imitate arrow keys so it was all good...For now.

...Yeah that's all I got really. Excellent show, guys!
