It's as simple as ranting being cathartic, meaning you want to do it more, because it relieves anger, but the ranting simply feeds that anger more (since you're basically letting it take control for a little while, rather than you controlling it), creating an endless loop of catharsis and anger.
It's the same reason hitting things to relieve anger is a terrible idea. People do something that feels good, they want to do it more. Eventually the thing they hit isn't a sandbag.
