Congratulations to everyone who participated in the last competition, here's hoping to even more this round! Spread the word, share the competition theme and entries with your friends, even if they are offsite. Don't be afraid to mention it on communities such as the Game Maker community either!

What will the theme be? Not telling! You'll know this weekend I'm betting!

http://mfgg.net/mgctimer/

Quote:
Rules

1. You have one week. 7 days. 168 hours.
2. Your entry must be posted in the topic on MFGG by the deadline.
3. Teams are allowed only if it is a team of two people, comprising of a spriter and a programmer.
In that case, both receive the badge. Otherwise, you are disqualified.
4. No previously made engines, whether made by yourself or someone else, but you can use some lines of old code, based on "fair use".
(For example, you may re-use a dialog box script from another game, but you can't build your game using Hello Engine)
5. Feel free to document your work, using a camera, live broadcast, audio ecording, screen recording, twitter-like log etc.
6. Feel free to sleep, eat, drink as much as you need. You do not need to program the full 168 hours!
7. Games are restricted to Nintendo (related) franchises only and original games.
Now: 09:07:38 04.03.2012 GMT

Begin: 00:00:00 04.03.2012 GMT
End: 23:59:59 10.03.2012 GMT

I've been obsessed with Luigi's Mansion lately, so our theme this week is centered around ghosts and their environments. Besides the obvious inspiration of Luigi's Mansion, I am hoping to see creative takes on ghosts in or out of the Mario universe and their environments. Don't be shy about sharing your entries or ideas. I bet the turnout for this will be awesome!

That's the standard timeframe given to these MGCs.

Haha we have 24 hour competitions too. If you think this is not enough to make a game, challenge yourself and try it out.

You'd be surprised at how good a game made in a week can be. See some previous MGC entries. (Volcanic Panic, Bloop Rinse, etc.)

Anyways, as usual, I'll try to enter.

Not really,
Most everyone here uses a tool such as Click, Game Maker, and Construct,
Which makes the game making process very quick.

It's not a full length game, it's a minigame.

And if you run out of time, usually a demo showing your concept is just fine. It may not do so well in voting though.

To make a demo or minigame is fine for 7 days. For much harsh condition, there's two competitions that require 24 hours to make one game.

Which produced great results too. If you put a full day of work into a game and have good time management, it is definitely enough.

It did? I though the 24-hour comps produced less games on average then the normal ones.

I have to agree with wiiboy here,

The boss rush theme is already done and over with,
And if it does prove to be an extremely hard theme,
(and their are several cases were you actually dont know)
its a simple process to have the rules adjusted to compensate.

With that said,
