First of all, congrats to Black Boo with his runner-up and Demonlemon, Supernova, and Miles with their top fives. (Badges should be handed out soonly after this topic goes up, I imagine!) And of course, everyone else who entered - it was a challenging competition and it's great to see people step out of their comfort zones! So remember back when Mit posed the idea for redesigning Mario characters, and I made this post: Quote: (Incidentally, I was thinking of something similar for a Drawing Competition. Assuming I win the current one, of course, which I might not.) Similar, but not the same! And there's been other Drawing Competitions around redesigns anyway. But they only let you do it in one way! This Drawing Competition requires you to redesign a Mario character, yes, but you have to do it so that said character fits in any other established game world! There's a lot of those! Say, for example, Sonic Riders. You'd take Mario and redesign him to look like he belongs there. This will involve changing the way he looks, sometimes quite radically (when I did a mock-up sketch for the idea, I had added goggles, changed his shoes, and put him on a custom-designed Extreme Gear, and drew him in a similar art style), but when finished, he should still be recognizable as Mario. Any official Mario character into any game world from any game works, as long as it's not in a Mario world. Geno in Team Fortress 2, Peach in Tomb Raider, Bowser in Ratchet and Clank - as long as you can make the character not look too out of place (because they still will, a little bit), anything's game. Go wild! ... Or you can do the exact opposite! Take an official non-Mario character and stuff them into a Mario universe! Sonic in Paper Mario, Solid Snake in Mario and Luigi, Link in Super Mario Bros. 3... once more, as long as they're an official character being put in a Mario universe in a way that makes them look like they belong, it's alright. They can still look a little weird, but again, the idea's to make them look not too out of place, but still recognizable as who they are. ... Too long, didn't read? Okay then. Simply put: Take an official Mario character and redesign them to fit in another established game world that is NOT a Mario world.
-OR-
Take an official NON-Mario character and redesign them to fit in an established Mario world. Some questions you might ask: - Do I have to use the series' art style? Good question! And the answer's no, since I know forcing total style emulation would cut a lot of people out of the competition which isn't fair (and a lot of games nowadays use 3D renders for art). But if you can, it'd look really cool! If you can't, definitely attempt to match the feel of the game's style. If it's something like Halo, you won't want cartoon shading, whereas something like Paper Mario should mandate not having legs. You can also draw actual characters from the world alongside them to help them blend in.
- What about cartoons? Unless the cartoon has had a video game, no. But most of them have.
- Can I do more than one character/world? Yes! But don't try to put a character in two other worlds at once. That probably won't work to your advantage (but if you make it work somehow, you're pretty good).
I'm feeling generous and have no idea how well this idea will go over, if enough people don't like it I'll change it to something else or let Black Boo do it instead. But you guys have until April 16th to make your entries! That gives you eighteen days, give or take, should be enough! Have fun!

Falcon Punch is the result of the Sun heating fists. It drives the Blue Falcon. Heating causes destruction of water into the pain, where it then hurts, creating rain. Rain creates flowing water in tears, which can then be converted into other forms through more pain.
