Gravity Goomba by ElykAfter a half-decade of revisions and false starts, Elyk finally completed Gravity Goomba this month. Inspired by the gameplay of Super Mario Galaxy, Gravity Goomba sends an unnamed traitorous mushroom on an extraterrestrial journey to collect a series of stars tucked away in cunningly-hidden locations. Every mission incorporates creative use of gravity, similar to that seen in SMG. You'll be climbing over every edge of cubic structures and flying through space across legions of levitating blocks. You might even find a secret or two if you look hard enough! The lack of a "star selection" screen as seen in most 3-D Mario games lends an open, sandbox-like feel to the game. Some of the episodes are quite challenging - collecting the star in the Fire Chomps episode is about as easy as sitting in a McDonald's for 30 minutes without hearing "Moves Like Jagger" come on the radio. However, if you've got the patience for a tough platform game, and you haven't eaten a really heavy meal in the past hour, Gravity Goomba is a worthwhile way to spend a boiling summer afternoon!
