---About Super Mario Online---
Hey guys. I'm back! And just startet to work on something new! Some of you may remember MFGGK2, if not: It's a Mario (MM)ORPG... or used to be one. This is the revival of this old Project lost in the Void of the old MFGG Forums.The idea behind this new project is creating a big mario world with many features where you can play and hang out with friends or meet new people, fight monsters, etc! This info will be updated as soon as possible. And now head to the Developer Diary! There is no release, yet but there are going to be closed alpha tests. So Some people can test the game and also help me to find bugs! I'll post news when there are tests! There are going to be open beta tests for everyone, too!

Nearly everything's possible,you'd just have to code it. EG. Randomly generated dungeons, with enemies and stuff.

Thanks! Yes it's possible but I'm not sure if I add this feature. I want the levels to be user-made and not random generated. I'll think about it!

Thanks for your offer! I don't need graphics right now. I use some palceholders but I'll come back at you! Thanks! And I use Multimedia Fusion 2.

I have an idea:
The spawn could be a city like Toad Town. Inside the Town Toad there would be a "Level Theater", where people can make or play levels. Past Toad Town, the levels would be randomly generated. I'm thinking of a Minecraft or Terraria scenario. For example:

Dark World: Lava and strong enemies are found here.
Water World: Bunch o' sea life located here!
Fortresses: Loot is here, but so is a boss guarding it!

In addition, there's a small chance of "fusion" worlds, such as:

Frostflame World: A fusion of Dark & Ice World.

I really like this idea. A hub world is planned where all players can meet each other, chat and do stuff. But I like this Random Level Idea... I'll see how I can manage this and program it.

Well the plan was that every player can create maps with an inbuild editor and play/share them with others. But yeah I'll see what I can do with this randomly generated level idea.

Ok, so I have a few ideas for "Toad Town":

Creature Colliseum:
Fight all sorts of creatures, with it getting harder as it progresses!

Level Theater:
Make and play levels with friends!
[You do not get experience points or items in player-created levels]

Mushroom Mall:
Buy various items here with coins gotten from defeating enemies!

Question Block Casino:
Play minigames for a chance of coins, items, or even badges!

BTW, I have a few ideas:

BADGES:
These are scattered around in Fortresses/Airships/whatever or can be bought at Mushroom Malls/outposts. They can do various things such as the Jump Boost Badge or the Coin Catcher Badge.

OUTPOST:
These are small pitstops terrorized by a group of enemies. For example, a grassland outpost not too far away from spawn might be terrorized by a group of Goombas with a Mega Goomba as it's leader. If you defeat the group and their boss, you get good loot.

ITEMS & WEAPONS:
There is a difference between the two, which is that items only have 1 use while weapons have an unlimited use. All players start with an Inventory Bag, which can carry up to 10 items, but can be upgraded. A good example of an item is the Fire Flower, which burns all nearby enemies, while a good example of a weapon is the Hammer, which can be swung.

I like most your Ideas, Thanks. I don't know if I can implement all ideas and I really want to make this a community decision so I'll ask the community what they want and whatnot when it's time.

you might want to add username system and avatar system
about avatar system, i will take some examples from my ref
my ref can be customized very easily if was implemented into
avatar system since its got simple body shape if i want to
change my hands or feet or hat i can show you what avatar editor
is. its an simple in-game avatar editor its abit like Spore
it adds more variety to online game and know what user looks like
(i mean in-game). Well what you think?
Note: Username can not be changed in editor

IMO, it looks like we'll be using Mario enemies (it would be nice to customize colors such as Green Koopa, Red Koopa, etc.) However, IDK about customized usernames, but it would be nice though.

I like the interface. Thanks for the ideas! An avatar system is planned where you can select different races like Goombas, Koopas where you can change some stuff like color, etc.

Yes. There will be player-customisation features! And you can choose your own nickname! The Player446532462346 Nicknames are just random generated nicknames for testing purposes!

What do you think about a Super Paper Mario Style (Any Spriters who are able to Sprite High Quality Paper Mario Stuff based on PMTTYD/SPM?).
The Character is still a placeholder.

Not bad, I'm liking this idea. However, here are some suggestions.

-- Hp system. (The mario big and little system isn't a good idea, but I think you've already went over that.)

Online games like these die because there are no Events. You should plan events (maybe 1-3 per month) or something.
For example, a special level you made suddenly appears in the middle of the main lobby. Inside this example level, it's a stage where it's raining bob-ombs but upon defeating your custom boss, you get an rare item (such as the mega mushroom or golden mushroom). (But can't get it again or something like that.) The level lasts an "X" amount of time before it blows up. <- This is just an example event.

I think you've already said something about shop, right? You know, expensive (and some cheap) items using the coins you got from the levels.
For players: use a "justice" system. Green player crystals (float over their head in lobby) = player who committed no crime. Yellow: this player committed a crime or something. Purple: this player has killed another player. [Yes, player vs. player would be cool. Maybe even add a room/mode called "battle" (But if you do, please make it better than smbx. Smbx's was kind of meh and overwhelming...)

You should, just for lulz, allow players to by different "clothes" and skins in shops. Like, let's say you're koopa. You can buy that expensive silver shell from the shop for an X amount of coins. Or goomba, shoes. etc...

Do not forget secrets. Even challenging secrets that will require you to let's say, but that expensive gold spring from the shop (or defeat/kill another player and take his/her items.)

These are only mere suggestions and I have many more, but I'm going to stop here. I have 7 days until I'm off to the Military, so I won't be able to check on this thread much.

Good luck with this project. (This is kind of a pain for a one-man project, so I'd suggest maybe getting at least 1 or two more team members to ease your pain xD)

Thanks for the suggestions! I also though about some special events but not how they should look. But the idea with special items/rare mobs and so on for special events is great. Wearable Items/Clothes are also planend. Also the justice system is a great idea. I'll see what I can do. PVP is also planned. I haven't released details how the battle system will look but it won't be realtime. Something like the tactical final fantasy games/paper mario ttyd. Yeah it's really painfull :/ I guess I won't update this everyday. I don't have that much freetime but I'll try. Good luck at the military!
